History of breed the Canadian sphynx
Appearance of the first sphynx refers to 1966. In Ontario (Canada) in the domestic cat kitten born without hair, got the nickname Pruno. When he grew older, he crossed with his own mother. In a communication received from him a litter were hairless and normal kittens. With further dilution was used as a close inbreeding: Prune back as a mate with his daughters and a granddaughter. The result was obtained for some livestock hairless cats, two main types, differing characteristics of the constitution. In 60-70-ies of XX century CFA has established interim standards for the new breed of cats. However, breeding cattery began under an unlucky star: received a small population proved to be unviable, and in 1971 this standard has been destroyed. Kittens are born weak, sickly and often died; breeding cattery in nurseries clearly failed. Breed "fell apart" on a number of morphological characters, while the hypothesis was accepted that the hairless associated with sex, which subsequently was not confirmed.
In 1975, Vadene (Minnesota, USA) in a domestic cat litter, a new hairless kitten, the owners gave him the nickname epidermis. A year later, from the same cat was born a similar pet. Both animals came to the nursery Z. Stardust. The epidermis became the founder of the first line of hairless cats, which date back some modern pedigrees. In the late 1970's to the streets of Toronto, in the same area where he was born Prune back, it was found three new kitten - a black and white cat and two cats. Unfortunately, the cat was in poor condition - he needed surgery. Therefore, at no further dilution Bambi (as it was called) did not participate. But he became famous for their longevity, a bit is not short of up to 20 years!
Both cats, Pinky and Paloma, came to Holland, where they became progenitors of the European line of sphinxes. To support the existence of genetic material of naked cats, their crossbred with Devon Rex. It is their type of constitution and zapechetlen in today's Sphynx. However, excessive similarity sphinxes with Rex "get out" so far and is regarded as a drawback of this breed: thin skin, short head with round eyes, ears and junior lightweight skeleton. Wrinkled skin often inherit the representatives of the lines originating from the epidermis.
It is believed that the Canadian hairless mutation still "walk" on the population of American mongrel cats: in it from time to time appear naked cats, which are used to rasvedeniya.
In Russia, the first bald cats were introduced in the late twentieth century. It is famous Aztec Baringa (home name - dumplings) and Nefertiti from the nursery Grandpavs / Their owner was Tatiana Smirnova (kennel «Ruaztec») from Moscow.
In the Canadian sphynx harmoniously combines the elegance and smoothness of movements of the animal with the presence of curved front legs and belly dragging on the floor like a pear, coiled tail and the folds of the skin. Cat recalls a mystical creature, but it remains just a cat, when rubbing against the heel with a loud purr.
